Word: Assignment 2

Lesson Objectives

The student will...

1. open a document he/she has saved.
2. create a header.
3. create a footer.
4. edit his/her text by inserting words.
5. edit his/her text by deleting letters and words.
6. use the “Undo” command.
7. use the “Print Preview” feature.
8. save his/her document.

The Lesson

1. Open WdAsg1 (Look where you saved your work in WdAsg1).

b) Once the document (WdAsg1) is open, go the Save As
and save the document as "LastName_FirstName_WdAsg2

2. Create a Header and Footer (header is at top of page - - footer is at bottom of page)

a) Go up to the menu bar and click on the View option. Drag down to Header and
Footer
and left click the mouse.

Put your cursor in the Header window, and type your name. Make your name in font size 24. Black.

Press enter, and type the date.

Using the right scroll bar scroll down to the Footer box.

Put your cursor in the footer box, and type Page 1. Or, if you can figure it out, have the computer do it for you.

b) Hide the header and footer by double clicking on the regular text on the page.. Even though you can’t see them, your header and footer are still there.

3. Insert Words into Your Text
a) Insert your cursor after the word "desert" in your copied text..  Make the word "desert" green.

b) Type the word "area". Make certain there is a space before the word and a space after. Make the word "area" green.

4. Edit Text by Deleting Words and Letters

a) Insert your cursor after the word "canceled" and hold the left mouse button down,

dragging it back over the word. As you do this, the word is highlighted.

b) Now press delete on the key board. The word disappears.

5. Edit Text Using the “Undo” command
a) Go up to the menu bar and left click on Edit.

b) Drag down to select Undo Clear. This command reverses your last keyboard action.

In this case it will put the word canceled back into the text.

6. Use “Print Preview”

a) Go under the File menu and drag down to Print Preview and click once. On your

screen is a picture of your document as it would appear if you printed it.

b) Click on Close to return to your document.

7. Save Your Document

a) Go to File on the menu bar and select Save.

b) Go to File, Exit.

c) Show Mr. Goodman the file for a grade. Don't forget to do this even if you do it the day after you finish.
