Lesson Objectives

The student will...

1. open a Microsoft Word document.
2. save the document: Last_First_WdAsg18H (last name_firstname_filename/grade/teacherinitials)
3. enter unformatted text into the document.

The Lesson

1. Open a new Microsoft Word document.
    A. Go to the start button
    B. Go to Dysart Took Kit (go to Programs if you have Office XP)
    C. Drag over and down to Microsoft Word.
2. Go to file --- then Save As
3. Save the document as: LastName_FirstName_WdAsg1 (type this in the box that says "File name:"

4. Highlight the following text, then copy it (go to edit, then copy)..

Living in    the      Southwestern       desert is very different from living in the Midwestern or New
England part of the United States.     When it is summer there, people get outdoors more to
camp and play   summer    games.           Here we do more of that during the winter when it is cool
outside. We rarely see snow in the desert, and we never have school canceled because of
bad weather!

5. Go back to your Word Document (WdAsg1). Remember: one space between words. One space after any punctuation (.,!?)

6. Paste the text into the document. Highlight all the text. 
    Go to Format. Font.
    Change the font color to black.

7. Fix the spacing so that the words look like a regular paragraph.

8. Save the file. Exit the document.
Under File on the menu bar, drag to “Exit.”
When you are asked if you want to save changes, click “yes.”

8. Show Mr. Goodman the file when you are totally finished to get a grade.
